Body scrubs – my winner!

scrub

Perhaps it will sound strange but I’ve actually never tried a body scrub before. Sometimes I used a face peeling for the whole body instead, but never a scrub. But you see, I have that habit that whenever my company introduces a new product, I have to test it first on my own skin, before I start recommending it to others. And that’s how I got to use a body scrub for the first time 😀

At the same time, coincidentally, I got a different scrub as a gift from my friend so I was testing both more or less at the same time. Also Colway International had one in their offer, so in the end I was testing THREE!!! 😀 One after another. All of them are rich in  very beneficial high quality oils and the skin felt amazing after application. What I loved most in all of them, was the fact that I didn’t have to apply a body lotion after taking a shower and the skin was silky soft in touch but it wasn’t oily at the same time.

I’ve tested these products:

At first, the choice was really hard. As I mentioned earlier all of those scrubs gave similar effects, all of them worked great as skin peelers and I liked the feeling of my skin afterwards. So lets have a closer look at each of them.

Purite scrub comes in a large glass jar (250ml), which is a big advantage, although you better don’t drop it in your bath, so be careful, it’s quite heavy. But I love the list of ingredients:

large_scrub-limon-sklep

  • Dead Sea salt
  • Sea Salt
  • Grape Seed Oil
  • Olive Oil
  • Shea Butter
  • Cocoa Butter
  • Avocado Oil
  • Green French clay
  • Lime Oil
  • Vitamin E
  • Mica

The smell is also gorgeous, very refreshing and pleasant. I loved it! Also you can choose among 4 different types of body scrubs from their shop, and I’m sure each one will give you a different but equally pleasurable sensation. Cost: €18.00 (250ml).

Colway International has recently improved their Body Scrub formula. It comes in a flat plastic jar (200ml). The list of active ingredients is a bit different here (instead of salt as a peeling ingredient, we have sugar!):

CI_bodyscrub

  • Sweet Almond Oil
  • Sunflower Oil
  • Avocado Oil
  • Shea Butter
  • Mango Butter
  • Extract of Bladderwrack
  • Sugar Cane

And as you can expect, the smell of this scrub is quite sweet. I can’t really get that smell although it says it’s raspberry-mint… Hmm… I have to test it again, perhaps it’s the new formula and the sensation will be a bit different. This scrub felt a bit heavy to me. Perhaps it’s the impression that I’m rubbing sugar into my skin, I don’t know 😉 but I also thought that, compared to the other two, this one seemed the “oiliest” of all. But the final sensation was also cool. There was no “wow” effect, but the scrub was doing its job perfectly. Cost: €42.95 (200ml) but you can get it 10% cheaper as a registered customer or 40% cheaper (so for €25.77) if you are a Partner of Colway International.

Colway Collagen Body Scrub is quite a new product by this company. And I think it is still rather underestimated. When I first tested it I was absolutely blown away! But slowly… So it comes in a very simple plastic jar (250ml) and the list of active ingredients looks like that:

scrub

  • Fukus Vesiculosus (brown algae)
  • Ivy
  • Guarana
  • Bitter Orange (Citrus aurantium)
  • Rosemary
  • Argan Oil
  • Sunflower Oil
  • Shea Butter (Karite)
  • Allantoin
  • Collagen
  • Vitamin E
  • Ground Cranberry Beans

What I love most in here? The smell and those cute little cranberry beans! But seriously, the smell is so captivating, that using this scrub is pure pleasure. I don’t know what kind of fragrance they added to this product, but can honestly say that I’m totally addicted. I can’t even describe it. It’s one of those products that you have to try for yourself to understand what I’m talking about. It’s a real experience! The skin afterwards is soft and moisturised, and it gets that fab silky gloss when you pat dry it with a towel. Besides it lasts! 😀 Cost: €35.00 (200ml) or 20% cheaper if you are a registered customer, or 42% cheaper (so €20.30) if you are a Manager of Colway.

Now, if I were to give an objective opinion… I know how it sounds… I’ve been with Colway for the past 5 years!… But seriously, I’m past that phase when you are trying to sell something no matter what (actually when I think about it, I’ve never had that phase… hmm… ) Well, so, believe it or not, but this IS an objective opinion. The winner to me is the Colway Collagen Body Scrub. Why? Because it gave me that “WOW” sensation and I loved my skin most after using this product. And also, because I’ve had a rather long break since I last used any of those scrubs, and I was thinking about it recently, and guess which one came to my mind first? Yep! Exactly. So the choice is obvious.

  1. Colway Collagen Body Scrub
  2. Purite Salt Lime Peel Scrub
  3. Colway International Body Scrub

Now, whether you base your choice on price, or ingredients, or the sensation the use of the product gives you, you can decide by yourself. All three will work great on your skin, leaving it silky soft in touch, perfectly moisturised and enriched with beneficial plant ingredients and vitamins. And you can forget about the body lotion afterwards. You don’t have to worry that your clothes will get oily (I had that fear myself before the first use), they won’t. And I ensure you, once you try an oil-based body scrub, you won’t want anything else!

Have you ever tried any body scrubs of such type? What is your favourite one and why? Share your opinion in a comment below.

Amygdalin – cancer cure or poison?

amigdalina-2What is it?

Amygdalin is a compound of natural origin, which is classified as glycoside. Quite significant amounts of it are found in seeds of almonds, quinces, peaches, apricots and cherries. It is this particular substance that is responsible for their bitter taste.

As a result of different processes taking place in the human body, it breaks down into glucose, benzaldehyde and hydrogen cyanide.

Some history behind it.

This compound was isolated by French chemists in the middle of the 19th century.

The widespread interest in amygdalin has its roots back in the 1920s, when Dr. Ernst Theodore Krebs described it as a panacea for cancer. At the same time, he emphasized that this glycoside had toxic properties, which prevented it from being used. According to Krebs, the lack of amygdalin, or not enough of this compound in the body, is the cause of cancer. On the other hand, when introduced to the body, and as a result of its breakdown through the cyanogenic glycoside beta glycosidase into hydrogen cyanide, it was expected to destroy the tumour cells.

Research on this organic compound was continued by Ernest’s son. He managed to develop a derivative of amygdalin, which toxicity was to be significantly smaller. He called it Laetrile, and its main compound was also amygdalin, its derivative – to be exact, the so-called almond acid nitrile glucuronide. However, due to the intervention of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Laetrile was withdrawn from the market. Their decision was due to the fact that this preparation had, in spite of all, a high probability of cyanide poisoning. The favourable conditions for this effect resulted in vitamin C supplementation. Moreover, the FDA justified its decision by the lack of scientific evidence on the suitability of this preparation.

In the next step, vitamin B17 was born, which is the latest form of amygdalin.

b17

Amygdalin nowadays.

How do researchers refer to amygdalin now? Do they confirm Krebs’s hypothesis?

As advocates emphasize, the hydrogen cyanide, commonly regarded as poisonous, is being released only in tumour cells. At the same time they add that healthy cells of the body are not affected during this therapy, which results from the fact that the body’s cells are equipped with a special enzyme, which is called rhodanase. It is thanks to this enzyme that it is impossible for the hydrocyanic acid to be released. On the contrary, tumour cells are not equipped with this enzyme. Proponents of amygdalin therapy emphasize the ability of destroying “diseased” cells, with the result of reducing tumours and preventing metastasis. In addition, they also observe the ability to ease pain, which is interpreted by the penetration of cancerous benzaldehyde molecules released from cancer cells. They reach the “healthy” cells where they are oxidized to benzoic acid, which has an analgesic effect.

In Mexico amygdalin is not only regarded as a drug of this type, but as a highly effective anti-cancer prophylaxis. Moreover, to this day, this compound can be purchased in many herbal stores. It can be bought in the form of bitter almonds or apricot kernels.

Opponents often emphasize that the results of research that prove that the level of beta glucosidase found in cancer cells is insufficient. What is more, amygdalin is one of the compounds that is not easily absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, thus leading to the hypothesis that the chances of reaching the cancer cells are very low.

In summary, it is worth emphasizing that so far, many independent studies have been carried out towards the effectiveness of amygdalin. However, there are no existing scientific circles that would justify its use in the fight against cancer. This does not reduce the interest in this glycoside. Is that why it was called “vitamin” at the time, and many people keep going back to Krebs’s discovery? Perhaps that is why still many people, especially critics of chemo and radiotherapy – consider amygdalin as unconventional panacea for cancer.

The real medical facts are that apricot kernel oil extracted in supercritical state with carbon dioxide, attains saturation with laetril (vitamin B17) at a level that American legislation recognizes as being poisonous at a dose of 10 mg, in such oil. At the same time, prominent American oncologists duplicating the methods of the world-famous Oasis of Hope Hospital (see http://www.oasisofhope.com/cancer-treatments-therapies/laetrile/) are opening another treatment facilities in Mexico where cancer is being treated with this oil.

The therapeutic evidence of Mexican hospitals is more than promising. It seems that there is an increasing awareness of the fact that for a certain group of patients the laetril therapy may be less risky than chemotherapy.

In Europe, you can still easily buy both apricot kernels and apricot kernel oil. Extracted in supercritical state, it is available only in one product currently available on the market. How long will it still be available? We do not know…

Face cream with natural antioxidants

As promised before, here’s a post about Natural Face Cream with antioxidants from Colway International.

The first impression:

The cream comes in a dark brown glass jar of 60ml capacity packed in a recyclable brown box. It has a spatula for hygienic application. The cream has a light pinky colour and a pleasant very delicate smell. It is recommended for both women and men.

What the Producer says:

Beauty Care Day and Night Cream for both him and her. The perfect condition for the human body is the balance between oxidants and antioxidants. The reduction or increase of free radicals’ activity is referred to as oxidative stress. Free radicals first attack the cell membranes of the skin, including structural proteins such as collagen. The effect visible on your face is the loss of firmness, wrinkles and lack of suppleness.

Antioxidant face cream is a genuine bomb that will protect your skin against free radicals and their harmful effects! A concentrated dose of 7 natural antioxidants will effectively smooth your skin, strengthen its structure and protective layer, and soothe any irritation. Your skin will respond with good condition and it will enchant you with its vitality and young glow.

What’s it made of:

Coenzyme Q10 – supports cell metabolism and regeneration and has antioxidative effects; it prevents cell damage, reduces wrinkles, makes the skin firm and young, improves the increase of moisturisation and suppleness.

Vitamin E – strong antioxidant; it stops the skin ageing processes, rebuilds the lipid layers of the epidermis and increases its protection against harmful external factors.

Chinese tea extract – thanks to the polyphenols, it has strong antioxidative effects, it eliminates the effects of free radicals, supports regeneration, has anti-wrinkle effects as it prevents the decomposition of proteins responsible for firmness and suppleness. It stimulates cell division, which is why it has anti-inflammatory properties, reduces skin irritation, flaking and redness. It shrinks blood vessels, has antiseptic and antibacterial properties.

Wild Andean rose extract – rich in vitamin A and C, it strengthens capillaries, has antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and shrinking properties, supports the prevention of skin ageing and is perfect for sensitive skin care.

Rosemary leaves extract – recommended for the care of mature skin due to its firming and antioxidative properties. It combats free radicals and acts as a natural sunscreen. It disinfects and has an anti-inflammatory effect.

Sunflower oil – it strengthens the natural barrier of the skin, softens it and boosts the regeneration process. It has antioxidative properties, regulates the secretion of sebum and has anti-inflammatory properties.

Macadamia oil – supplies the skin with vitamin A, B and E as well as mineral compounds; it makes flabby skin firm and supple, stimulates microcirculation in the skin, moisturises and nourishes skin that is prone to dryness and flaking, helps protect the skin against harmful effects of the sun.

My impressions:

  • this is by far the most efficient face cream I’ve ever had! I’ve been using it regularly every day since August and there’s still about 2/3 left!!! Can’t believe it. Definitely great value for money.
  • application is very pleasant; the cream is very light, spreads smoothly on the skin and gets absorbed very fast, doesn’t leave that sticky feeling, instead makes it a perfect base for your makeup.
  • skin feels fresh and smooth after application, looks healthy and radiant. I didn’t get any unpleasant reaction and heard no complaints about this cream neither from my friends nor customers.
  • the cream regulates the secretion of sebum; skin looks fresh all day even with makeup on, it doesn’t become oily.
  • the only very little thing I would recommend for improvement is to replace the spatula with an airless jar with a pump, but to me it’s not a big issue anyway.
  • the cost €80.95 for 60ml might seem a lot to some, however taking into consideration how long-lasting this product is and what ingredients it contains, this price is not too high. Besides as a registered Customer you get a 10% discount, and as a Partner you get even 40% so in the end this cream might cost you only €48.57.

A real treat for your dry hands

Today I want to share my opinion about Hydro Hand Cream from Colway International.

It comes in a tube of 100ml, which has a classical white fresh look and a nice silver detail on it. Inside the box you’ll find a leaflet in 11 languages, giving detailed description of active ingredients and the effects of the cream.

The consistency and effects:

The cream has a creamy-white colour and is non-greasy. Very easy and fast to spread and rub into your skin. It gets absorbed very fast and leaves your hands extremely soft (a feeling of a delicate protective layer on your skin). You can use your phone or touch anything almost immediately after application because it doesn’t leave that horrible feeling of greasy residue left on your skin, thank God!

The leaflet says:

Our cream coats the skin on the hands with a soft layer protecting it from external factors: UV radiation, pollution or washing products containing SLS.

To be honest, this would be enough for me to try this cream as I have a very sensitive skin on my hands. Only one wash in the liquid soap makes them as dry as a paper! And yes, I have tested that of course, and I was very pleasantly surprised with the result!

The smell:

It has a very delicate smell which changes slightly with time. I must admit that at first when I tried this cream, a few months ago, I was overwhelmed by the first note of this cream’s fragrance – I absolutely loved it! However I couldn’t get used to the deeper note of its smell, that’s why I haven’t been using it for some time. Now I’ve decided to give it a second chance, and either my attitude towards that smell has changed or it does smell a bit different 😀 cause now it doesn’t bother me at all! hmmm… Truth is I haven’t met anyone who would complain about the smell of this cream; in fact quite the opposite! So the fragrance is very delicate but the first note is a bit stronger and absolutely beautiful (to me at least, as I know this is a personal thing… ). So I guess you just have to try it to find out what I’m talking about.

The ingredients:

Collagen – extracted from fish skin using a method patented in Poland, it is the only natural source of peptides, which freely penetrate the epidermis and stimulate the increased activity of fibroblasts. It is a natural, hypoallergenic anti-ageing cosmetic ingredient. It targets the root cause of wrinkles, i.e. the collagen deficit. It stops the ageing processes by moisturising the skin, regenerating it and making it more supple.

Xylitol and lactitol – they regenerate and maintain the balance of the skin ecosystem while supporting the growth of beneficial bacteria and destroying the pathogenic ones at the same time. The combination of these two ingredients helps combat skin problems that appear along with microbiological imbalance.

Teflose – prevents pathogens from growing, while simultaneously soothing inflammation. It effectively reduces itching and hypersensitivity of the skin.

Glycofilm 1.5P – thanks to its water retention properties, it provides instant and lasting moisturisation. It coats the skin on the hands with a soft layer and protects it from external factors: UV radiation, pollution, heavy metals and surfactants (SLS).

Hydromanil – gradually releases natural moisturising particles. Thanks to its innovative structure, hydromanil acts as a Sequential Delivery System for small molecules of moisturising substances, ensuring universal hydration: instant and long-lasting. With the ability to regulate the process of cell exfoliation and rebuilding, it improves the appearance of the skin by making it smooth, supple and soft.

SLS-free, paraben-free, not tested on animals, dermatologically tested.

Natural Hair Conditioner

So I gave this Natural Hair Conditioner a try. Why not? –  I thought… To be honest I was quite hesitant about testing Colway hair care line, because I’ve been recently using only products designed for blonde hair, but then I remembered that I wouldn’t be able to truly recommend this product if I didn’t try it myself first. Here we go:

What the label says:

Broccoli oil smooths the hair, untangles it, and regenerates hair cuticles. Tsubaki oil prevents hair from drying out and supports regeneration of split ends. Vitamin E improves the condition of the hair, while d-panthenol restores its smoothness and shine, and regulates normal hair formation. Collagen nourishes it. The comprehensive hair conditioner composition treats your hair fantastically, strengthens its natural structure, leaving it strong, moisturised, and lustrous.

What I say:

I say, after the first application I was truly and absolutely surprisingly shocked! I wasn’t expecting this. Everything what you’ve just read above turns out to be true. My hair was smooth, delicate, moisturised, untangled! You may believe it or not but I felt like after a visit to a hairdresser! I loved the touch of my hair, so velvety soft. And the smell of this conditioner is very pleasant and refreshing.

Before going out I also applied a small amount of Natural Hair Serum with antioxidants, which I have tested before and was also satisfied with.

In this terribly windy Irish weather, I thought I’d have a huge problem combing my hair after coming back. No. I was absolutely shocked that combing went so smoothly (and it was the time of hurricane Barney and I was walking with my hair loose – can you believe it?!?!).

So at the moment, I’m still using my regular shampoo for blonde hair, but I switched to this conditioner, plus the hair serum occasionally. I think this is my perfect set for the time being.

Active substances of Natural Hair Conditioner:

Collagen – extracted from fish skin using a method patented in Poland, it is the only natural source of peptides, which freely penetrate the epidermis and stimulate the increased activity of fibroblasts.  It is a natural, hypoallergenic anti-ageing skin care product. It targets the root cause of wrinkles, i.e. collagen deficit. It also slows down the ageing processes by moisturising the skin, regenerating it and making it more supple.

Broccoli oil – obtained from seeds of Brassica Olearacea; thanks to its unique composition with about 50% of erucic acid (Omega-9) it has excellent properties and it smooths out skin and hair, regenerates hair cuticles and makes combing it out easier.

Tsubaki oil – obtained from Japanese camellia. Traditionally used in Japan and China to make hair more shiny and moisturised. It contains about 85% of omega-9 acids (monounsaturated fatty acids) and a fraction which is responsible for its anti-inflammatory activity. It regenerates damaged and split hair and prevents it from drying out.

Vitamin E – a potent antioxidant, it has a beneficial effect on the skin and hair, it slows down the skin ageing processes, it accumulates in hair and improves its condition, especially hair that has been bleached.

Vitamin B5 (d-panthenol) – that is, panthothenic acid, is a natural compound present in the skin and hair, which is necessary for their formation. Replenishing its deficit prevents the skin from becoming rough and from peeling, and hair from greying. It makes your hair shiny, elastic and smooth.

Natural Hair Conditioner (200ml): Regular price: €35.95 / Registered Customer’s price: €32.35 (10% discount) / Registered Partner’s price: €21.57 (40% discount)

Natural Hair Serum with antioxidants (30ml): Regular price: €32.95 / Registered Customer’s price: €29.65 / Registered Partner’s price: €19.77

My favourites from Colway International

Let me introduce you to three of my favourite products from Colway International:

BODY SCULPTING AND FIRMING SERUM (200ml)

This product is like a delicate body lotion with a lovely smell. What I like most about this product is that it makes your skin firm. You can really feel the difference! It gets absorbed very fast by the skin leaving it soft, delicate and pleasantly fragranced. It also helps in fighting with cellulite. I use it after every shower.

Active ingredients: collagen, colostrum, SOD (superoxide dismutase), shea butter, ginkgo biloba (what effects they have?)

NATIVE COLLAGEN GOLD (50ml)

This is definitely my no.1 ! It’s a biologically active fish collagen in a form of a gel, which should be applied on a wet skin and followed by an application of a moisturiser (so it is not a cream guys!). This product has significantly improved the condition of my skin, evened out its colour, made it look firm and healthy and gave it a radiant look. It dramatically speeds up the regeneration processes so it’s great when you’re fighting with break-outs. I use it for the night.

Active ingredients: collagen, colloidal nanogold (Axonnite), colloidal nanosilver (Axonnite), azelaic acid, lactoferrin, chitosan, retinol (what effects they have?)

REJUVENATING FACE CREAM (50ml)

I’ve tested all face creams from Colway International and I find this one the best if you’re wearing make up. My skin has a tendency to look shiny but with this cream I don’t have that problem. Could be great for special occasions like weddings, parties etc… Not to mention how it improves the condition of your skin! Just check the list of ingredients and your jaw will drop. One of them: Thymosin β 4 is used for the first time in the mass production of skin care products. It shows an unmatched ability to stimulate cell proliferation as compared with other substances. I use it for the day.

Active ingredients: collagen, SOD (superoxide dismutase), citrus aurantium stem cells, Matrixyl 3000, sweet almond oil, vitamin E, cornflower oil (what effects they have?)

These products are available in all European Union countries at the moment. Just check the website for more details and place an order for yourself. www.anc.colwayinternational.com
